On overseas holiday now mains water cut off
Discussion
Water supply was off from mid afternoon last night and still is so no flushing toliets or tap water so question is what foes my insurance policy cover?? And how can I prove to them when I make a claim that the mains was off?? Have checked my policy printed off but nothing in it about my specific situation. Also highly annoyingly the apt owners of the complex are not handing out bottled water and it's a 40 round taxi ride into town for water and the onsite eatery is cut off too and will only charge for their bottled water.
Note I have a few ltrs of beer in the fridge but cannot wash plates etc it's self catering. Also if the toilet becomes blocked with mlayers of s
t who is liable to unblock it??
They said last night at five water would be on in one hour needless to say I was round there every hour on the hour and by ten when it was pitch black they finally accepted that noone was out in the dark fixing the problem. Maybe it will be fixed early this morning however we played a round of golf in 30 degree heat yesterday and smell plus fast running out of baby wipes for cleaning hands from toilet visits
Clearly I'm furious but for now want the problem fixed asap then can look into claims.
With the insurance I want to know will they accept taxi fares and alternative avcomodatipn costs - note thisis not a package holiday all done seperatly online

t found the detailed policy online and you have to be without services I.e water or electric or gas for 60 hours and this is a good to premium policy!!!! 60 hours if dumping into the same toilet it's going to stink and be overflowing
Or you could use common sense and go out for a s

You went overseas on holiday to the middle of nowhere without a hire car or other means of sensible transport? And let me guess...somewhere mediterranean - Spain/Greece/Turkey/similar?!?
Sorry to hear your woes, but I'd be:-
a) Spitting feathers at the owners, asking what they were going to do and where they were going to put you up tonight if not sorted;
b) Sorting your own arrangements out if not;
c) Spitting feathers at the tour operator (assuming you booked through one...) to get them to help...

No tour operator we wanted a totally quiet holiday to relax only needed the taxi for one large shopping trip so cook ourselves- this place is lovely really totally quiet so that's great but this is well unexpected and here the water companies don't give warning nor bottled water out.
Update the staff have seen the water company out down the road fixing a big burst and it's looking like before lunchtime - aparently Boone reported it yesterday only spotted this morning.
If it is sorted one big lesson always have lots of water bottles ready

You could do your washing up in the swimming pool, followed by any necessary toilet activities (but obviously do it in this order ;o)
not really much help, am I? Sounds like a horrible situation for you though. I would have thought that you could claim some compensation back from the travel agent assuming they belong to ABTA.
