How do
Anyone know why the instructions that come with Thermos flasks warn against putting cold or hot milk in a thermos flask but yet everyone uses them for coffee etc?
It smells! I used to do this so I could have ice cold milk for cereals at work, but if you don't wash it out straight away it can smell really bad. If you wash it out with Bicarbonate of soda it should be ok.Anyone know why the instructions that come with Thermos flasks warn against putting cold or hot milk in a thermos flask but yet everyone uses them for coffee etc?
Well as I used to work at Thermos so here goes.
They put that on the instructions because they didn't want people putting prewarmed milk in them for babies. Warm milk in a non sterile environment that will retain that warmth is good for bacteria growth. It was also a protective statement so people wouldn't sue if they got ill.
Thermos did (they may still do) make a baby flask which was for hot water to be put in the flask. Then poured into the over size recepticle and then the baby bottle to be put in that to let the hot water warm it up.

I used to take a flask of milk to work everyday as part of my training programme without any snags. You do need to remember to clean it out on Friday though....had a few 'b
ks!' moments on Monday morning when I'd forgotten.
Part of your training was to take a flask full of milk to work?
ks!' moments on Monday morning when I'd forgotten. What were you training for?
