Overtook a van today on an A-road. He took offence at this and drove about 1" away from my rear end. I thought I'd accelerate away as the flashing of headlights and beeping of horn was getting on my t1t5 after about a minute--put my foot down car spun out I went into a concrete barrier at about 50!!! I'm fine the car isn't looking too good. The van driver accelerated off without stopping but the two other cars who were directly behind the van did stop and checked I was okay.
One major problem--my car was insured in my wifes name with me as a named driver--not too much of an issue there however I never got around to changing the docs to show that she is the registered owner and not me--am I bu66ered?? Don't know if the cars a write off yet or not.

f**k all that! get the bill onto this maniac..........er, might as well not bother on reflection
What is it with these dick heads who take offence when a TVR overtakes them????
I took mine out on Boxing day and came off a main dual carriageway onto a 'A' road. Saw 1 parked car on side of road, white van in the distance coming opposite way as I had the power advantage I accelerated to get through gap (he was way down the road)...no sooner had I accelerated so he accelerated also. We ended up head to head which by then was too late to brake and we most have missed each other by millimetres - To$$ER!!!
Alan.

the registered keeper and the legal owner don't have to be the same person so you should be ok on that score. you might get a "reckless driving" lecture from the BIB, but just act responsibly and you should be ok there too bearing in mind the slidey roads we've has recently (although really it should be the van driver that gets the reckless driving lecture if there was any justice ...)

Very sorry to hear of your accident, main thing is you are ok.
Does get on my nips how some people react to tiv's or any fast car overtaking them - or even being on the same stretch of road.
An example only last night...dropped my bro' off at Manchester Airport in the Chim, on the way home had a maxx-upped type clio or something similar right up my chuff with his beams on full, all this with me going 30mph in a 30 zone.....maybe he was trying to intimidate me with the strange neon glow emanating from beneath his car

MOD.
I've decided to get rocket launchers fixed to the exhaust for next time--as there will always be a next time as I drive a dogs 6ollox car I suppose.
The to55pot in the van did pull in at a petrol station about 250 yards away stayed for about 30 secs then pulled away--didn't get his number though unfortunately.
Have to give my insurance co a plug though as the transporter was there within 45 minutes.

If you ask at the petrol station they may have the van drivers number plate on CCTV. Not sure if they'll be able to release it to you, you may need to ask them not to record over the footage and get the BiB to ask to see it.
Scotty2dogs - Don't see the point in tracing the van driver - he would just say that 'this plonker in a flash motor roared past and then lost it big time - it was only good driving skills that prevented him becoming part of the plonker's accident' or words to that effect. Police would probably believe him too and throw the book at you.

For once i agree with Jigs

Scotty, where did you get your estimate?
Not wanting to sound pedantic, but the part about the 'jig work' is interesting.
I had a prang in October where, in addition to some of the crunchy bits looking very sad, the chassis took a knock. I insisted it was examined by a kosher TVR guy, not some lad with a clipboard. TNS at Melton Mowbray took one look and decided it needed a trip to the seaside for a proper check up. It transpired the lower N/S wishbone lugs had torn from the main tube. It looked simple enough to weld the lugs back, but when it was looked at by Crash Repair at Blackpool, they told me they won't weld a chassis because they can't powder coat a section of chassis. This would then lead to localised exposure to the elements and subsequent corrosion leading to an eventual compromise of the structure of the vehicle.
The car ended up with a £22K body off rebuild.
Three months later, I'm looking forward to the return of 'The Mistress'.
Hoping after your incident, you are OK and you get back in the saddle as soon as possible.
