Now, I am a fan of yer man Lance, however, was this a genuine offer or a shameless piece of self promotion?
Considering his tweet is followed by *00,000's he shouldn't have been surprised more than a dozen turned up??

Self promotion? Probably not, I think winning seven tours gives you more promotion than a spin round Paisley in the rain.

What a fantastic thing for him to do though, could you imagine Tiger woods inviting people for a game of golf, or Schumacher asking folks to come out for a drive.
Lance doesn't come across as liking the media very much, but he does seem hugely appreciative of his fans, I'm only gutted that I had to be in work today and couldn't get over to Glasgow and join the great man for a spin!

Check out his twitter page, he genuinely seems chuffed with meeting all those folks today.

And another of my mates got his club top signed by Lance and even managed a little chat with him during the ride:

Legend - lovely guy, made time to talk and was extremely pleasant - especially given the 300 or so riders!

Who cares the reason, he let it be known when he was riding the local roads to me in May and was genuinely niice to anyone no matter what age or ability who joined him!!

Looks like a scrum of cyclists as opposed to the media which is how it should be. Good on him and everybody that turned up with their bike. Lets face it he didnt have to do it and when was the last time a TDF champ turned up in the p*ssing rain and said lets go for a ride with whoever wants to tag along...

Did he give it some beans or was he quite restrained??

Is it me or has he become seemingly more personable since his comeback? I always got the impression he was pretty arrogant but seems to be quite media friendly. At least that kind of publicity can only be good for Livestrong

I would suggest slightly less focused and time poor... although if his rep is anything to by maybe not....

There's a story that Lance was at an airport in France meeting the organisers of the Tour De France discussing coming back in 2010.... the tour were anti his return quel surprise... that was until their meeting was continually being interrupted by autograph hunters...... suddenly there was a change in the whole feeling of the meeting as they sensed the positive PR lance could bring.. result he rode in 2009!!

I think it's fair to say that Lance has long been aware of his PR power and is now exploiting it for Livestrongs benefit!

Not a sensible idea to stand next to a world class athlete and be photographed unless you are willing to live with the inevitable ...probably unfavorable ...comparisons ;-)
