Accomodation only skiing in France
Discussion
Without wanting to wish the summer away, my thoughts have been turning to the slopes. 6-8 of us are looking at doing a week from 18/19th December to kick the season off. The plan is to drive down to France. Although some websites offer accomodation only, they generally tend to focus on full packages so I'm hoping someone here knows a hidden gem or well kept secret they are willing to share! Want to be close to slopes and bars/restaurants so we can leave the car unused for the week.
Any thoughts?
TIA.

There are people out there who will offer accommodation only - but yes they are a bit harder to find!Any thoughts?
TIA.
With those dates you would be well advised to choose your resort VERY carefully as otherwise you may spend your week admiring the grassy meadows and watching the cows being moved from pasture to pasture.
A good contact is mal at skiline (his email is a simple version of name @ website) he will have access to a large number of options for you.
Drop me an email if you would like some more info. This is what i used to do..... and with recent discussions may be what i am doing again soon

Spot on.My parents ski about 20% of the year (and my brother lives in a ski resort) and M&D always go for the second and third weeks of December.
They reckon you've got a 60% chance of great snow, zero tourists, zero lift queues and basically the whole mounain to yourself as the package season starts around 21st Dec.
So you've a 40% chance of a week of French beer and staring at the meadows..
I recommend Morzine for accomodation only bookings as it's a non-package type of resort, but I don;t reccommend it for you for those dates as it's 1200m
You want Val Thorens...(2000m)
