Just received my decat Y piece and can't seem to get it lined up with both manifolds. I've been trying for a couple of hours and I'm going nuts. smash

Has anybody else fitted one and had problems / found it easy?

I'm going to give ACT a call in the morning but thought it was worth checking on here first. I might be doing something stupid....but I can't think what.

Are you employing the ratchet strap technique, I had to.
Have you removed the rear arb and dropped the exhaust, I had to.
Fitted clive's Y piece but same job. I found patience to be a virtue too, took me a few hours!

couple of suggestions... easiest and maybe 'best' option is to use a decent ratchet strap or twisted rope/timber across the manifolds to ease them together and onto the Y piece.

Or slightly back off the manifold to head bolts to allow the joint to be made, then re-tighten. Problems here are that you might not get the manifold to head joint to reaseal effectively, and access to the bolts (especially if originals) can be a mare.

Dont try and beast it together with the V-cramps, though they will hold tight once the joint is made, they will break if over stressed by pulling mismatched faces together

I do as Pupp says rachet straps although mine doesnt need to much to get them to line up pretty decently. Put some Grease in the joints too as it makes a good seal when it carbonises I am led to believe.
I have ACT Manifolds too and I believe may have stressed one too much in the past and broken a weld which holds the four pipes together. Its the same for my Catted Y piece so dont know why they seem to be so far apart sometimes.

Great tips as always, thanks for all the comments.

I have a ratchet strap so I'll give that a try with a bit of grease. It's probably about 2-3mm out so I think a ratchet strap should be able to close it up.
