335xi in Holland

a mate of mine test drove a new(ish)335xi (manual) the other day 20K km on the clock.
He remarked to the sales guy that the gear changes were quite heavy..

Anyway a few days later the sales guy phoned him saying that they had changed the gearbox and everything was now fine..

first of all it sounds very unlikely that a new 335 would need a new gearbox and secondly I find it hard to believe that they would change a gearbox after a punter's remarks on a test drive -- any thoughts, not much to go on I know....
