I type this with clenched buttocks, because I am expecting to be flamed to the max.

<deep breath>... here we go...

I have created a new web site... <exhale>

Now I already know what some people will say without reading much further, so all I'm going to do is provide the link, and field any questions and critisims, should this post remain here long enough to attract any. I won't waste any more of your time except to say that, this is a new (virtually un-populated) site in terms of content right now, but it has alot to offer feature wise, if you'll take a moment to at least have a peek. If this thing falls flat on it's face, so be it. This is NOT a replacement for HSV.org.uk.

www.hsvonline.co.uk

I am braced...

I've tried to highlight the point on the web site, if you disagree, I can't really argue with that.

If the font size is not to people's liking it can be changed! Everything can be changed, and that's sort of half the point. Along with the other bits and pieces I've written about on the front page. Take a look, that's all I ask.

I know there are probably going to be endless posts of "Why", but I'll take that as red. My question is, considering what you can do with it, why not? If the answer is, "I can't be arsed", thanks for looking, not to worry.

Looks ok to me, although I'm still unsure as to what a blog is/ don't care.
Just one question though; Why HSVOnline? We don't all drive HSVs. What's wrong with Holden online or something similar?

Well, my brain is small and I didn't think that far ahead! I figured as this site is called HSV.org.uk people wouldn't mind too much. Again though, the name can be changed if required.

To a number of us this site is called Pistonheads. It's the HSV & Monaro section of PH. It's not perfect, but it's where we hang out. I can't see that changing any time soon.

Fair enough. I'm not saying everyone should start hanging out anywhere else, but there is alot more on my site than a place to hang out. If it's not your bag, nothing I can say or do will change that.

lol......

When I bought my VXR8 a couple weeks back I found out VXR8.com was availible, so I bought it.........I was planning a VXR8 specific home because I did not feel it yet has a true home, I guess the same could be said of HSV owners of various types, old and new ??

I hope with some help to have the VXR8.com forums up and running shortly, good luck with your HSV one smile

WHS
+1

It looks ok, but i prefere pistonheads due to the fact there are a lot of areas for different interests.

My opinion, for what it's worth as i know next to nothing about websites, is that i like it.
I don't see any problem with how many HSV sites there are, as long as the content is of interest to me and the site is easy to navigate, i'll join.

That's cool. I always knew this was going to be an uphill struggle. Nobody likes change, but if nothing ever changed, nothing would ever get better.

I would suggest that there isn't really the critical mass to dilute things too far, it'll end up like one man and his dog being loyal to their own sites with this one ending up like the village pub where the majority of the banter will actually take place.

I think you're right about the dilution, but let me stress once again, I'm not selling the forum side of the site for that very reason. I know all too well that alot of people instantly dismiss another forum without first engaging any brain cells. What I'm offering is an indexed, searchable, subscribeable resource that can be up-dated by it's members instantly. There is a message board attatched, because that is the software around which the rest is created. Personally I'm not happy with sticking my head in the sand and saying "that's the way we've always done it, and that's the way it will always be done", but maybe that's just me.

Give it a go. What's the worst that could happen!
