Does any one run an in car pc in a monaro. If you do could you please post up your specs. I was thinking that an in car pc with efi live would look good with some gtr gauges, plus i could data log and map where ever i was. I'm just not sure on where to mount a pc and how to get sound through the speakers and maintain a radio

Yeah I do images are on this thread

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

easiest way to keep the radio and run it though the speaks is keep a head unit, mount that somewhere (mines in the glove box) the PC is currently in the passanger front foot well but will be moving to the boot onces im 100% happy with how everything works.

Specs are

JVC headunit - For speaker output and radio
HP NC6220 Laptop
7" Touchscreen
USB GPS
USB OBD2 Adapter (will be getting a EFI at somepoint)
USB Webcamera

Thanks for the link madmunky. If the bits i have lying around work okay then i will most likely build a system and shove it in the boot. Thinking about it i might even have loads of watercooling bits. Now thats an idea, watercooled pc inside a ro. I will have to say hello and have a nosey at your setup at the next drag day then madmunky.

well if i have the bits why not. I first need to check that the bits i have all work and will go from there it will probably take me around 6-9 months to get it working in the car if i go ahead with it, as i'm easily distracted lol

I thought about a PC but the advantage of a laptop is the fact it has a battery so if you pop in the shops/petrol etc... you can have the laptop running for 3 or so hours and not have to wait for it to boot up like a PC.

Live feed from the battery, smart power sensing to put it in standby/hibernate. They were very good at this three years ago, and wont have got worse, especially with the better availability of touch screens etc.
