I believe it was on the section between Wilton and Allerston. Came accross this at about 6:15 this evening, had to turn around and continue my journey on the A64 instead.

Anyone know what happened? Big transit on its side and a couple of tractors at the scene but dont know if they were involved.

Rich?

Cycled through on Saturday (on way to collect car from garage - again). You see things differently at 20mph.

Its in a bit of a dip with a bend mixed in for fun. I guess tractor didn't see cop van coming round bend as it came out of the field - and cop failed to read Roadcraft. ie - Be able to stop in a safe controlled manner on you own side of the road.

Was the tractor pulling a trailer ? They had certainly been leading the straw so I reckon there was. Hence van was probably faced with a wall of tractor, trailer and a few tonne of straw approaching upfront at 60mph. Nice.

As the cop was a dog man - wonder if it was the same guy from Crossgates who got bitten by his dog a couple of years ago ? Trying to remember, was it just his leg - or a bit higher ?
