Inspired by an email sent on by my nan!!...

So, who thinks this would work then?

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
1 tsp of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe)

- Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
- Pour in the milk and oil and mix well..
- Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
- Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
- The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
- Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

Wouldn't oil be easier to mix in than butter considering the confined space of a mug?

Melt the butter first perhaps then it'll be liquid. Don't know how that would change the consistancy of the final product, but I don't think it would be too bad considering it is 3min microwaved!

It does work but it's not very chocolatey. Put some real chocolate in instead of the cocoa and I think it would be better. It's quite amusing watching it grow in the microwave.

Well I did actually try it last night. I definitely did it for too long, I did about 4 1/2 mins because my microwave wasn't that powerful - will try 3 mins next time.
Turned out like a phallicly shaped sponge pudding - might use a different shaped mug next time!

It really didnt work for me. It just came smoldering overthe top in a gooey, horrible mess. and some bits were burnt.

.....still ate it, though.
