I bought a bullet cam a few weeks ago and no matter where i put the mic in the car the sound is badly distorted. Does anyone have any tips on improving the sound quality? the car is pretty loud, around the 106db level, but i bought a race pack edition with an uprated mic etc that is supposed to cope wth the sound but clearly it doesn't!

TIA.

I had the same problem.

1/ Try getting into the camera menu, I found I could knock it down by 3db
2/ I also wrapped mine in foam which helped
3/ use a much cheaper mic - the one you get with a cam is very sensitive.

+1 with foam on a HD digicam......I have heard that gaffer (Duct) tape works equally as well. 3db only cuts the sound in half but the wind is still excessive.

I looked into this a while back before I sold my last car. A few suggestions were to mount the mic either near the exhaust exit or in the engine bay... or have you done these?

Also what system did you go for, I'd like something that automatically turns on with the engine and record the full drive preferably from 3 or 4 cameras at once
