Just started looking for a hire car in sept - and prices from the big operators are way higher than I was expecting.

Anybody got any suggestions where else to look, or should we wait 'till we're there for a better deal? Hiring when out there worked OK price wise for us last time but that was several yeas ago.

Cheers B16 - got prices down to 240 Euro for 10 days from Autos Mari.

Aparently there's a real shortage of hire cars in the med at the moment, several hire firms had none available in sept which is a bit strange - previously have had no problem and got one far cheaper.

Yep. A lot of the larger companies put much smaller fleets out in the Med this year, expecting the recession to hit holidaymaker numbers. As its turned out, there has been a rush of late bookings - notably from the UK - and resorts are full.
