High5 EnergySource for mid race, training
High5 EnergySource Xtreme for pre-race boost and during endurance events (triathlon for example)
High5 Energy gels for not making me throw up when I need to use them at peak "about to fall over" moments
High5 Protein shake (Choc) for post exercise recovery (tend to use during specific training recovery rather than every ride)
Nuun or High5 Electrolyte tablets - simply give back lost fluids and no energy/carb/protein... I'm just starting to look into low carb/energy based training along lines of train low, race high... either way they're good for quick fluid replacement after a "charged" commute home (My bike commute is 16miles each way... 2-3 times a week)
P.S Don't work for High5!! Just find their stuff better than SiS and the like as not so sickly or upsetting to stomach. Hear Torq supposed to be good too.

I use a firm which is next door but one to my business, beacuse they're handy (they do mail order too.), but they're pretty well regarded in the cycling fraternity: http://www.zipvit.com
Their stuff is pretty good and, when they have offers on, the prices are reasonable too. I use:
ZV2 Energy drink Extreme for energy/carb/rehydration during rides
ZV3 Recovery Drink Rapide which is a post-training protein shake/drink
ZV7 energy gels - for emergency only
and ZV8 Energy bars which everyone who tries them reckons are
.
They must be doing something right - I keep hearing the boss passing my office in this:

Having tried all kinds of stuff, these work best for me:
2hrs Before a long ride/training/race:
- Big bowl of Muesli
1hr before a race:
- 500ML High 5 Energy Source Plus
- 1 SIS Go energy bar
- Maybe a banana 30 minutes before
During training/racing:
- High 5 Energy Source Plus - while training and competing
- Water
- SIS Go energy bars (for anything over 1.5 hrs), washed down with water
When I get desperate:
- Zipvit Gel blackcurrant, washed down with water
Recovery:
- Zipvit Recovery drink
- Can of Tuna on its own
Then:
- Pint of Guinness

I have my first ever 4th Cat race on Sunday at Goodwood. Should be interesting.

How did I forget to mention that!
Guiness is perfect on a warm day, or, if you're driving or just trying to avoid the potential, post-booze snooze, the Becks "zero alcohol" stuff is magic. Apparently, beer is isotonic* you see.
*Disclaimer: I heard that once and, whether it's right or plain wrong, it seems to work for me and I enjoy it anyway!
a bottle of sis electrolyte (lemon and lime) before i ride, water during the ride with a sis go energy bars (banana). torq bars are ok but not as effective as sis stuff. the sis recovery strawberry drink is ok taste wise but very very effective.
the zipvit drinks are bloody awful to drink, they taste horrible and never mix well so i avoid them.
they are doing a trial offer at the moment go to www.zipvit.com/success
i like their energy bars though. the energy and recovery bars are very good and havea noticeable effect.

Now maybe it's because the Enduro 6 (being my first race) wasn't a terribly easy initiation, but from that day on I couldn't drink that stuff again!pablo said:

Whereas I like these, all of which goes to demonstrate one opint - best try a few testers before buying in bulk to see which products suit you best - it's subjective.Zipvit's into offer is prerty good, as pablo says, and it gives you a good range of trial sized products.
