Well 4 years after it is the norm to go to university, and with nothing but an NCFE CAD course & Btec Nat Dip in Spatial Design, I have decided to stop being a cock and go to university. I'm really rather excited at this, and have received all my stuffidges through the post this morning.

biggrin

It involves interior design work / technical drawing / media design stuff...I wouldn't reccommend it at all. It was piss easy.

Dont really think it makes much difference really unless you want a top top job at then end. You will love it, best time of my life.

I dont agree. My reason was because I didnt know what I wanted to do and I didnt want a job at the time of finishing college and was looking to have a good time while still working towards something that might help me get a "decent" and not a "top" job in the future. I now do something totaly different to my degree and work in a well paid job in the city, which im happy with but it certainly is not a 'top' job I was for when I went to uni.

I think getting a degree can help with getting a good job in an area that you might want to get into at the age of 18-21+. I think job hunting and job applications for most graduate roles are equal unless you go to one of the top universites in the country when you are probably more likely to get the job over someone who went to a low ranked uni. Just my oppinion.

I'm afraid that was the reason I didn't go when I was 18. No point studying something I may never use again. The last 4 years have really built my character and I now feel ready to progress in a field I'm really interested and already somewhat knowledgable in.

I am not the most sociable person ever, so the social side of things doesn't interest me.

Yes, I do. I'm staying local as I don't want to end up with any debt when I leave (I know, I know...) and they do the course I want to do. I will be studying business & finance.

Yeah I understand, everyone does go for different reasons, but I would be intresting to see how many people have jobs unrelated to the courses they studied, I bet it is a high number, its a starting point IMO and from my exsperience, but there is no right or wrong in this argument, everyone has their own agenda and esperience.

While I agree entirely with you, I wonder how many of those people how have a job unrelated to their degree would be better off now had they waited / studied what they ended up doing. Note: that would also include vocational courses / training.
