Pulling onto the M56 slip road after dropping my bro' off at Manchester Airport, going round the curve there and my door decides to open up. Fortunately I was going only about 40mph and the road was straightening up so I was able to close the door without much drama. Nearly soiled my under crackers though and drove all the way home (70 miles) leaning heavily on the transmission tunnel!!

I was sure the door was closed properly and I had locked both doors with the button on top of the door release nob too. When I got home I tried to barge the door from the inside to try to replicate the problem.....to no avail, tried it with the door properly shut and also ajar if you know what I mean....still nothing.

Has anyone else had this problem? Poss was it the bodyshell flexing round the bend causing the door to open? Sounds unlikely to me though

had this a couple of times on my griff (passenger door) during hard(ish) cornering. I think it must be body flexing, so I am going to adjust the door latch.

I had something similar. It turn out to be the cable which connected the door release to the mechanism had either stretched or slipped through the screw clamp.

Solution was to remove the carpet from just behind the door exposing the locking mechanism, pull an extra about 3 mm of cable through the screw clamp, tighten and cheack mechanism. Problem solved.

Anything loose in the boot, that might have caught the door release mechanism as it rolled around?
Same happened to me when a crate of Becks slid sideways whilst cornering.

Keep those seat belts fastened!

At least there shouldn't be too much danger of being blown out the door by the air-bag!!

After the lethal mix of Christmas stuffing and Stella I have have recently consumed, it is entirely possible I might blow myself out

The Chimmy owners book thingy that you get with the car states that sometimes a door can pop open at high speed....scary alright!

In the meantime stick velcro down the side of your trousers so you cling to the carpet on the transmission tunnel! :-D

Hi, one possibility is that the outside button was frozen up. When this happens, if the door button is pressed, it often does not fully retract and this can lead to the door mechanism not completely closing.
.... just a thought!
