Altea 2.0 TDi SPORT
Discussion
Superb cars - had one for 3 years, my folks have one and a pal of mine bough one as they were so impressed with ours.
Make sure the electrics are all ok as prone to cruise control and steering wheel button issues. Mechanics are all as per VW Golf.
Stick with 16 inch wheels ase ride becomes harsh on 17s.

I'm currently driving around in an '06 Seat Altea 2.0 TDi sport, and love it!
Used to own an '03 Leon Cupra R, but needed something a bit more family friendly when we found out we were expecting our first child.
I test-drove the new Leon and the Altea, and much preferred the Altea for the driving position and visibility (Leon's visibility is cr@p IMHO).
The Altea's got loads of space in the back/boot, and the boot can be made bigger by being able to slide the rear-seats forward (reduces rear leg-room though).
Only major issues to check for are that it's had the dual-mass flywheel recall, and also that the bottom edge of the windscreen hasn't started to go white/cloudy. If it has, it means the glass has started to delaminate. This was replacable under warranty, but an '05 car won't be covered. Might be worth seeing if the dealer will replace it anyway if they'll get a sale out of it!
I tend to get an average of about 48mpg out of mine, and that's doing ~125miles a week commuting to work and back, and then 500mile round trips to Devon once a month. Tend to cruise at 80mph. I reckon I could easily get >55mph if I drove it like Ms. Daisy!
Think that's about it.....

Thanks all picked it up yesterday, and haven't stopped smiling its very good. Not used to the diesel yet but enjoyed passing a couple of petrol stations today! Although I do miss the golf (ahem slightly performance modified) I'm sure there's a couple of options out there to keep daddiO happy!!!!
I need to change the tyres, its just something I do when I buy a new second hand car, and was thinking about getting these?

The Falkens are serious value when compared to the other brands has anyone tried them ? it looks almost to good to be true at the price.
I'm not going to be doing doughnuts etc but looking for a decent tyre, I usually go for Vredestein.
