What's so good about finishing early Friday?

Most of the units on our estate are emtptied before 3pm on a Friday whereas us boys keep going till the death (6 or 7pm). What i'd like to know is what do people do when they finish early, and what is the point?

As far as i can tell they go to pub, spend their 'well earned', and are proper leathered by the time i get out of work. So what's the crack? Is it just the boss saying "off you go guys, have a good weekend" or is it just a bad habit?

I have never worked anywhere where they let you finish early, and to watch the people on our estate literally running out of work at 1, 2, or 3pm to their cars baffles me. Why? What's the god damn rush? Is there some kind of club i don't know about where they all get mega?

So what's going on?

The reason they leave ASAP is because not being in work is MUCH better than being in work.

Would you rather sit at work earning your money, or be let go a few hours early and sit having a few beers in a pub garden earning your money?

It's the way they leg it out of the place as well. It's like there's a mad axe wielding lunatic chasing them out of there..... they must really hate their jobs, sad to see to be honest.

4pm for me but the GF doesn't get home until 5:30 so I pick up her 3 year old and we go to the park.

Amazing though it is, some people actually have lives outside of work - and when they leave work, they go and live these 'lives'.

I leave early on a Friday. We get to leave at 5pm instead of 5.30pm. It's nice as it allows me to join the traffic jams on the M20 30 minutes early.

I get your point, but when it's pissing down i'd rather be working still than be sat in the pub getting pissed with my workmates. Maybe i should start another thread, "Do you LIKE your job"?

Well, I quite like my job. I really do. But I work to live rather than live to work so if I can leave early on a Friday I'm out of here quicker than a whippet with a rocket up it's arse.

I suspect 95% of the population is the same.

Fact of life that for most people a job is just a job - it pays the wages, any job satisfaction or enjoyment is a bonus.

If you enjoy your job, thats great - but alot of people don't - hence the rush to get out.

When I was doing office work, 9-5 Mon-Fri I loved poets days.

It's similar to why I like being out on the road, your getting paid for not actually working.............and I work for myself so I finish when I like!

It was terrible yesterday, I was paid for sitting on the train to Bristol and back (90 mins each way) in first class...

Fair enough. I get out of work Friday about 6 maybe 7pm, prepare the speedboat, or the track car, for the weekends fun/abuse, have a couple of beers with a few mates, and so on. But the i feel all the better for doing the 'full' days work and not pissing it up in the pub. It might just be my mindset?
