Well I turned on the PS3 on this morning and visited the Playstation store, and there it was.
I played it for a good 40 mins and it just didn't impress me in the slightest, yes it's good but it just didn't click for me. It's a shame as the first one was amazing fun, then again it doesn't represent the full game. I can't figure what to make of it.

I just can't put my finger on what's wrong with it. I think it's the direction of the game, it's gone from rallying to something like Motorstorm.

I didn't like the first game, I felt the controls were disconnected somewhat from the cars - they have improved that a bit in the 2nd game, but it still doesn't feel right, there's still a bit of lag between the controller and the car's movement, and I find it really jarring.

Graphics are quite nice, but the menus are annoying - I don't understand why a menu cant just be a menu, I don't see why it has to be a caravan and a table or whatever.. just slows down the action!

Could it be missing the influence of Mr McRae?

Really? How much did Colin contribute to the touch and feel in the first one in reality?

I downloaded any played it last night.

Although the controls are a vast improvement of DiRT, i found the game was very much based like Need For Speed Prostreet which im not a fan of. Ok so the demo doesnt actually let you play any proper rallying but it still felt too arcadey.

It seems that they have replaced Colin with Ken Block which obviously has changed everything round somewhat as it felt very bloated and a pain to move around in the menus etc.

Maybe not what Colin did to make the game but what he stood for as The Biggest Rally legend there will ever be. the game has very much forgotten its roots, don't get me wrong the other aspects added in dirt are fun, but its the main event that is really missing from these games now.

too much american "dudes" and"RV's" and that sort of thing

It's really just made for America now. I suppose this makes sense with the decline of the WRC and the popularity of Redbull everything.

I played it yesterday too, looks good but nothing special in playability.
I hate the menus too. And did anyone else think the caravan was exactly like the one in Race Driver, even the door was in exactly the same place lol

My thoughts exactly.

What happened to proper rally games? Games where you took part in a full WRC season. That is what I would love to see. Ideally it wouldn't be made by Codemasters as they seem unable to make games that are not based on an arcade model.

Dirt 2 demo is already deleted and I am now moving onto the IL2 demo and the Mini Ninjas demo. What's with all the demos all of a sudden??

What annoyed me the most was the rally stage in the demo, you had no co-driver telling you whats coming up, so i had to constantly glance between the minimap in the corner and the bouncing road mad

It really was bloody hard to look at the map, and then back and try and focus on the road through the bouncing windscreen frown

In the end i just learnt the bloody road, and hooned it through from memory.

1 thing that was very annoying in the controls, was the fact it took forever for the game to pull the handbrake from when you first push the button, that took some getting used to frown

Also couldnt see the fking start lights, as the A pillar was in the way and there was no way of looking round it, as i like to be in-car all of the time frown

I am getting the impression it's not a hit with rally fans. Also it's a bit too American with it's interface, and racing styles.

Although to be fair to Dirt 2 the demo didn't have an actual rally stage. It's a different kind of even completely, probably more similar to Pikes Peak or Hill Climbing in the UK.
