Just been checking how safe our cash is in various accounts. Seems the Post Office is NOT covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).

With the way they are performing at the moment I won’t be putting any cash there!

I wonder how many people know that their cash isn’t covered if the Post Office goes tits up?

I would HOPE that the state will ensure that the PO doesn't go down.

The sooner they get rid of the Post Office the better as far as I'm concerned. I'm hoping it's only the popularity of eBay that's keeping them afloat. Never in all my life have I come across such an incompetent, unhelpful, rude and sarcastic bunch of people. Their attitude is typical of an organisation where the staff get paid regardless of their performance.

Thankfully, I can now buy car tax online in seconds rather than having to cross the threshold of one of these little oases of bureaucracy. I certainly wouldn't entrust any of my money to their keeping.

I think their accounts are backed by an Irish bank, so you get Ireland's guarantee.
