Tail pipe supplier?
Discussion
Hi DB , The Pipes on robocops car are actually hand made by RACING GREEN , it has the half system and sounds glorious
The tails were hand crafted to fit the openings in the bumper, Robo's exhaust featured in one of the xkec clubs growler mags,
I am sure he will be online soon and fill you about his system, please don't get this exhaust system confused with the Adamesh , jec , xkzahran exhausts ,

Still looks good Andy.
On a different subject, i notice you have the chrome rear plinth. I have just fitted one to mine, its an early car so no wiring in the boot lid for the release button. Am considering running the wires down to the 'catch' and tapping them in to the wiring that obviously must come from the dashboard release switch.
Anyone tried this successfully? Am guessing that later cars must have the wiring running up to the lid pre-installed.

Mines not wired DB ,
i suppose it would be nice but i don't really see the hassle involved worth it myself,
i am sure there are a few in the xkec who have wired this up, and if i remember correctly you have to take the wiring to the boot release switch in the dash
actually its one wire to the back of the switch,
purple /green wire splice to the black wire of the offside number plate light,
and black / white wire goes through the car and spliced to terminal one wire of the boot release switch,

Hi Steve
Sorry yes, been getting away from this rain in sunny Corfu
Have replied in e-mail to you but for others reading this thread, here is a copy for info on my exhaust system:
They are the original Racing Green Cars 'Supersport' exhaust system, which actually made by Cheeseman (he made the exhausts for the Maclaren F1 road car!) .. and hence very expensive. About £1200 for a cat-back system ... and that was in 2004!!! But they are hand rolled and beautifully finished compared to current available brands. They were available in 3 noise levels - Sport, Supersport and Grand Prix. I have had them a long time though (over 5 years) and RGC switched exhausts to a cheaper supplier a few years ago, who I understand may be going under. I do not think they are available anymore, as that system was commissioned for RGC only and Cheesman can not sell any unless through RGC. Try giving Chas a ring at www.racinggreencars.com <http://www.racinggreencars.com/> , as I think they may be considering going back to Cheeseman.
Trouble is, there are a lot of cheaper alternative these days. Off the top of my head there are systems available from Miltek, Larini, Blue Flame, and even the JEC do one. Elite and Performance Jags in Derby do some nice quality pipes with different trims. As do Paramount Performance. A trawl through the web will reveal what is available.
If you are not a member of the www.xkec.co.uk <http://www.xkec.co.uk/> then I would recommend you join them, as there is a wealth of info on the Forum, as it is a one make club just for the XK8/XKR and new XK. Just about all the makes have been fitted by someone in the club and there are pictures of the various types in the threads. Apologies for delay in replying - been on holiday away from this rain!! Pic attached showing the heavy gauge quality large bore pipe-work. Worth doing in addition to just the tail trims, as standard pipes are crimped as they go over the rear axle and sap a lot of power.
Hope this helps? Good luck with your quest!

Cut the plug off the boot plinth switch run 1 wire to earth, I use one of the securing nuts on the plinth. Run another wire to the cabin release switch and I beleive you will find it's orange and red, I do so many of these its almost instinct could be orange and grey

This way everything works as it suppose to!
Getting back to tail pipes check here http://www.powerflowexhausts.co.uk/products/tail-p... theres a large selection good quality to and the large oval slash cut is the 8th one down on the left
I wouldn't do that myself but alot do..... using either the JEC Adamesh or XKZ pipes and for £200 it's not a bad option.
But I hate the resonance and drone caused by losing the back box.
For an experiment remove the rear section where it joins behind the rear wheel and start the car up, you will hardly notice a difference!
The rear box is a straight through pipe basically and is classed as a resonator box to stop the frequencies. If your car is not a daily driver and you dont do long distances....fine go for it you can live with a bit of noise and once you get past 60mph the frequency vibration fades and you end up with a bit of drone.
For more sound you have to lose the centre box and replace it with a balance pipe or a crossover.
The main thing the kills the sound is the squashed pipe which is the next section forward from the rear boxes.
At the end of the day you will end up with a CAT back system and you don't have to pay the stupid money either if you know where to go
