When to belt up....
Discussion
Coming home Wed night got within a mile of the house and the fan belt went footang, as they do on occation. Anyway, it was an 1850mm 7 peak belt (no PAS or A/C) and it looks like it had been rubbing on a jubilee clip on a hose connected to the bottom of the rad below the alternator.
According to GriffithPages the choice seemed to be either a 7PK1830 or a 7PK1850, neither was which was readily available. To get the car back ASAP, the closest I could get would be either a 7PK1855 (long) or a 6PK1850 (bit thin), so I've opted for now for the 6 peak belt as it was the best length to go for.
Is this OK, advisable or need to change ASAP and keep the current belt for emergancies only?
