Could someone tell me how the number 3677 identifies my M. It was made in June of 76, and sold in the US as a 1977 model. T for Trevor? M for Martin?

That makes sense, thank you Frits. smile

I took off the right door panel awhile ago. Written inside was "oatmeal", the colour of the trim, along with 736.

Hi, the 736 is the works order number, your car was started 7/6/76 and originally was onyx in colour.
Colin.

Thank you. Were you able to figure the start date from the VIN 3677? Or did you have another source?
I'm still not quite getting the 'significance' of those numbers. Could they be broken down further?

Paul,
your chassis number 3677TM is fairly straightforward. The T in the suffix indicates the Triumph engine, as previously stated. The M part of the suffix indicates it is the M-series body and chassis. The 3677 is a sequential number which began with the first Vixen S2 with chassis number LVX1234F. They continued from 1234 sequentially on from that through the end of the M-series production. Prior to the four digit numerical sequence, Vixen S1s had three digit chassis numbers such as VX233, for example. Other earlier TVRs had a variety of chassis number designations.

Thank you Marshall. Thank you Colin. I thought the number was, as stated, fairly straightforward, but started to wonder when I found that work order number (again, thank you Colin) on the door panel. I've got it now.
