Just joined up, and need help making a list as I'm out of touch with recent movie news, so was hoping for some recommendations from you chaps.
I mainly like to watch, thrillers, action adventure, war films, etc. Not really into comedys that much. Cheer's.

Was discussing this at work today as I gave a friend 3 months free trial, suggestions were;

Tarantino flicks
Man on Fire (we've just had it delivered to watch and a couple of people said good film)
Angel A - try a different Luc Besson film

Rather easier - here's our current list;

Appleseed
Australia
Battle Royale
Body of Lies
Brothers Grimm
Burn After Reading
Cool Hand Luke
Flags of our Father
Gran Torino
Happy Feet
Iron Man
Kite Runner
Knowing
Le Dernier Combat
Let the Right One In
Letters from Iwo Jimar
Primer
Rocknrolla
The Score
Shallow Grave
Slumdog Millionaire
The Sprint
Taken
The Crow Road
The Lives of Others
Transporter 3
Valkyrie
Crank 2
Blood the Last Vampire
Moon
Shooter
Up

It's a bit eclectic - made up of films we've recently missed, have been suggested on here and films I probably should have watched years ago.

I've just checked the previously rented titles - OMG when did we watch 60?!!!

Anyway, this is possibly the dredge of the list as the ones we've watched were pretty up to date.

First thing I did was to go through the IMDB's top 250 films list, adding the ones I hadn't seen to Lovefilm. It generally results in a good film although there are some that get voted up by fans of the film/genre.

That's a good idea.

You could also try metacritic, which collates all the reviews and allocates an overall score for more recent films (when they hit the big screen and DVD).
