I've just fitted my K&N 57i this afternoon. Well recommended from the owners club.

I disconnected the battery whilst fitting as this should help the ECU re-map itself. I took it for a spin after, varied driving to get it to sort itself out and its gone from 17mpg and is sitting at around 28/30ish.

What sort of MPG do ST owners usually get? With & Without Induction?

It used to sit around 33/34 and not really hooning it loads pretty relaxed driving 13miles to and from work every day along dual carriage ways

Very tidy! Seemed there was an awful lot of plastic and air box when i had finished anyway!

I've just been for a bit of a hoon in it and now seems better MPG than i was having before.

Yeah just shows how far the air had to go doesnt it. Bet it sounds alot better now aswell, are you going to do any more to it? I'd recommend getting some Eibach springs on first off, makes a difference in handling as well as making the ST look alot better.

Another reason for getting rid of mine, getting 28mpg, not good enough IMO, and the main reason? It was crap, i have owned most hot Fords and ST comes bottom, awful car,

Yeah planning on eibachs next and probably remove the OTT stripes. I keep saying to myself i will but i like the way cars move out of the way once they see them in the mirror.

After that im not sure, might save the money on more engine mods and hopefully bag myself a nice cerbera for the weekends

I wouldnt bother with induction kits on NA cars full stop... all you are doing is sucking up warm air from the engine bay! Get yourself a K&N panel filter... i have a focus 2.0 (same engine as the fiesta st's) and i get around 32-35mpg (thats with a mixture of driving styles)

sorry, but you're wrong.....

the standard air box on the Fiesta ST sits right on top of the engine, where it gets very hot.... and also, once you've removed the airbox, and all the ducting, and resonators and all that crap, you end up with a massive amount of redundant plastic....

the 57i Kit comes with an elbow which fits directly onto the throttle body, and points down, to which you attach the filter.... well out of the way of any heat source....

the kit for the Fiesta ST, gives somewhere in the region of 10bhp, which has been proven and tested on many an occasion.... while not a massive amount, it's quite a substantial increase for a 150bhp standard output.... and you wont find a cheaper 10bhp anywhere!!! (on an N/A car anyway!)

PS - i have my K&N 57i kit for my old ST sitting next to me which i need to get rid of.... wink

The ST Fez has a poor design for the inlet and exahust to keep the power down, hence the reasonable gains from these things.

It must be noted that as the 57i is an open cone, if your sitting in traffic it can get heat soaked. When moving it should be ok.

Don't let this message anger you mate.

But its obviously how you drive, the conditions its being driven in, or the lack of a sixth gear doesn't help either.

Put it this way, im getting 32MPG in rush hour conditions, on a very short journey.

Yes, I agree with Neil there. Can't ever remember averaging 28mpg in mine.

And yes, the induction kit on the specific Fiesta ST application works very well, been proven long enough. The standard intake tract design to the airbox and location is far from ideal.
