how to fill up the clutch system in utlima

ok folks, initial fill up of the clutch system went quiet smoothly......at least that what I was thinking at that time.
But do not be fooled the clutch release must travel full way and it is quite difficult to tell.
In my first test ride, engaging gears was really difficult whereas with the engine not running no problem. So my wild guess was
that the clutch system has still some air trapped and is not fully releasing.....boy was I right !!!
Took my 4 HOURS !!! to get this bid working. So the method with pressing the pedal and closing and opening the release valve is not working
for the clutch system. I was about to got mad when I finally got the idea that this small hole in the cap might be the solution.
The final breakthrough came with an air pressure gun being put on the small breathing hole of the clutch cylinder cap with 10 bars.
That will push the liquid through the line and if you are precise and do not empty the cylinder reservoir so you push air in there again
you will be done with the job in a few minutes. takes 2 people - one can be the wife as in my case
You can even do that with the take cylinder installed at the gear box.
Now I have finally a working gear box with the spring modification of Frank that will bring the gear lever in 3/4 position in neutral position.

In the UK you can buy a brake bleed kit that works pretty much the way you arrived at.
It is called E Z Bleed and has a selection of fittings to go on the master cylinder and a bottle to hold extra brake fluid. You connect a pipe to a spare wheel which puts air pressure to the bottle which then pushes fluid into the master cylinder as you let it out of the bleed nipple.
The job can then be done by one person with no risk of running the system empty.

You did have the bleed nipple at the top as with the gearbox upside down you have to put the slave cylinder the wrong way round in the gearbox . Have you noticed , as a point of interest , that the slave cylinder mounting flange is at a slight angle to the axis/body of the cylinder ? Therefore when the cylinder is mounted as described it is not working in its designed fashion . Why is this offset in the original design ?

I put my bleed nipple at the top so that the fluid would fill all the part of the cylinder beneath it before coming out through the nipple . Bleeding the clutch took 2/3 minutes with wife at the pedal . Mechanically however , as I said , the clutch release pushrod is not working as originally designed due to the angled flange . All seems to work OK like this .
