After a recent trip. I returned to find bird crap on my front bumper. I cleaned it off as soon as I saw it. But as I feared, it’s left a mark.

There are about four large st stains on my front bumper. I am gutted.

My front bumper is plastic and coloured the same as the car (black).

It’s seems the bird crap has eaten through the lacquered coating on the bumper.

I am going to the local dealer and body shops to get quotes. But would a detailer be able to fix this?

I would rather not go down the route of a body shop as I suspect they will suggest removing the bumper and spraying it??? I guess this is where the cost comes in????

Is a detailer a good idea??

I’m in Surrey by the way.

It has most likely etched into the surface of the clearcoat and can be polished out by machine relatively easily; there are plenty of detailers that cover Surrey - maybe go onto Detailing World quickly and have a look at their 'after a detailer' section. Or I suppose I could set up a wiki here if there is enough interest ie a list of detailers and what areas they cover.

It's no more than an hour's work if they can do it (I would think).

Bodyshops typically charge approx 200-300 GBP for removal and repainting of a bumper but it is variable; this is just a rough figure for guidance.

Smart repairers like Chipsaway would also be able to do a paint repair on the damaged section for 70-90 GBP; again a rough figure. No removal of bumper required.

But the route does depend on the damage - and until it is properly inspected, no-one can advise you fully.

Try Meguiers Paint Cleaner System for a start (if you by the Clay Kit you get some as a sample) it got rid of some of my cars bird poo issues.
