Damaged pick-up
Discussion
Young son has bashed the back of our L200 and the insurance company have a recommended repairer, Bennetts in Uddingston. Does anyone have any experience of these guys and the work they do.
PM me if any answers would breach forum rules.
Thanks,
Neil

Having made the monumental mistake few years ago of asking if the gargage 100yds from my house was acceptable to my insures and being told yes we have used them but not on list of approved (Uncle Arnold in Bishopbriggs) I'd have no hesitation in going to who the insurers suggest then perish the thought when/if it goes pear shaped you can always say you told me to go there you sort it out
what he said. Last year I made the monumental mistake of shunning my insurers recommended choice of Bennetts for an indy coachworks outfit on Glasgow's southside (recommended by a few PH-ers I may add), the end result was poor, the metallic flake in the paint didn't sit right and the whole back end of the car looked different under sunlight - I wish I'd gone to the recommended bodyshop as I would've had a better chance of recourse, instead I got rid of the car.In short, no, haven't used Bennets, but next time I would, as a big outfit it's less hassle/cost to them in the grand scale of things to redo something if you're not happy with it.
My WRX was fixed there after a roof tile hit my passenger door about 1 year ago.
I also got the bonnet, front bumper and roof repainted.
They done a good job but my passenger window squeeeks when it goes up and down.
My top coat on the bonnet has started to peel off.
A paint expert has looked at it and told me that it is down to stone chips getting water behind the top coat.
He told me that repaired paint work is not as good as a factory job due to the fact that they can not bake the parts to the same temp.
I did not like the sound of that since i have had a large area of my car was re painted.
I am waiting on them calling me back with a answer to liability / warranty.

The pick-up is with them and I am expecting it back at the beginning of next week.
I'll report on how things look then.
I am sure it will look fine.I'll report on how things look then.
The problem i am having is they were boasting about there 3 year warranty on repairs but when i showed them my top coat peeling off they took the easy route and said it was not there fault and that a stone chip was the problem.
b
ks!The thing i do not understand is how they told me they could not repair the paint work as good as a factory finish due to them not being able to heat the parts as high as the factory.
Surely they should not be repairing them then?
Good luck i hope you dont need to go back to them with a warranty issue.
