Surveyors in Birmingham

I'm looking at buying a property in Birmingham, and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good surveyor. Anyone had any good experiences, or any I should avoid (via PM for the latter of course!)

Aren't the suveyors normally nominated by the lender?, thats assuming you are having a mortgage.

I'm a surveyor based in Nottingham, & we have covered Brum in the past, so i could help out if you're stuck.

Yeah, we were looking for an independent one.
