I seem to be wearing the middle of the rear tyres slighty quicker than the out sides ! Is this due to under or over inflation? All four tyres are the same PSI as what the manual recommends, 33 or 35?? can't remember of the top of my head now. Any body have/had the same problem running the stock Pirelli's, do not seem to have a problem with the fronts.

Are you sure? Tread pattern has a plain band at the centre. Have you checked the wear indicators? Never had the problem and always ran Pzeros.

Wouldn't say the band pattern in the middle of the rosso's is plain, see below

http://elitedirect.rtrk.co.uk/?scid=1

It's the middle part which has worn on the backs, not much in it from the sides, about 4.1mm on the outsides and 3.3 ish in the middle, as i said before, fronts seem fine !! might do the same as 007 and run them at 32 all round, just a bit starnge thats all.

poss tip.. i run stk pzero run flats ..have had tyre presure monitors fitted when i got wheels sprayed ..tell me temps and psi all the time and if you get a if psi drops my more than 2psi an alarm goes off ..handy with run flats as i found out

you just replace wheel valves and have a monitor in car about half the size of a fag packet ..cost 180.00 from demon tweaks..

Don’t know how true this is but, the tyre fitter who changed my tyres suggest all tyres of these sort of widths and profiles wear out in the middle first?

Did you run this PSI on the stock Pirelli's or the Run Flats you have on now? Not sure I really want to drop my back tyre preasures by 4PSI !!

Having the car serviced by the Fish in a few months time so will get them to swap the wheels, fronts to backs and see of those go the same way, if they do, maybe these are suppose to wear a little quicker in the middle?? for what ever reason?? would of thought the presures mentioned in the manual would be correct, ie, 34 front 36 back

Powerful RWD drive cars normally wear a bit faster in the centres - it's an issue with Mercs and they wear the edges of the fronts, but the tyres on many models the tyres can't be rotated as the sizes are staggered front/rear.

Funny this thread has come up... I had to check my tyres at the weekend as i thought my fronts were wearing in the middle more than the outside - checked the pressures and the fronts were at 36psi... Checked the book and it said 36psi rear and 34psi front (for 3 persons and under in the car)... However, i took the Ro out for a drive last night and the front end felt a bit wooly to me... Might go back to 35 - 36 in the fronts and take the wear as part of it... O, Tyre size 245/35/19 Perreli rosso's...

To be fair it may have been the roads i was driving on mixed with the low profiles.. Not only that i haven't driven the Ro for a few days but have been driving my other car and the misses with not such low profiles which tend not to jolt from left to right, then right to left as soon as you hit a match stick laying in the road!!! I will take it for another spin before i make judgment me thinks... biggrin
