Im thinking of getting a track weapon.....

Ive looked at a few track day websites but its not clear if open wheelers are allowed??

Would they be too fragile to run with tin tops etc??

Simply, are their corner speeds too high for average trackdays??

Thanks ive tracked a Westie V8 and a Striker but love driving single seaters but i dont want to be only to do a few trackdays at top money.

They're simply not allowed by a lot of TDO's. I suspect it's an insurance thing more than anything else.

Do the ARDS course, get a National B race license then you can do general testing days where single seaters are allowed.

Looking into this myself as my local circuit is Goodwood and they run a test day a month.

Used to do them there about 10 years ago before they introduced the need to have a race license, was the cheapest way of getting on track at the time.

Lydden Hill tends to run a session for open wheelers and the like during trackdays but I have no idea if you need to have a race license to run in those sessions.

I would imagaine that it would be pretty frustrating driving a car like that with normal kit on track and having to obey trackday rules for overtaking. TBH it's probably a recipe for problems and so I'd be very hesitant about letting one out on our days.
