Who here subscribes to National Geographic magazine and is it worth it?

For the UK, the current 12 month cost (12 issues), is a peasly £15 including a free fleece. For me it's €33 but even so, I don't like to throw my money away.

The problem I've heard is they like Egyptian stories....a lot.....is this true?

its ok if you can handle some of the eco sh!te.
also they try to screw you on the renewal cost, so keep hammering them down to something worthwhile.

I've enjoyed about 50% of the articles, so in VFM terms it's not bad. Though they've done 2 sizeable ones on Kamchatka in a few months...odd, but hey-ho...

Will bear the renewal cost thing in mind - thanks!

I subscribed but didn't get any magazine for 3 months after the first issue was due, but still its worth it. I keep mine as a collection on a shelf, and read through the odd older article every now and then.

I was thinking the very same thing, it's 9 quid a pop in Norway (!)

I was worried that when the 12 months is up the subscription goes through the roof, Is this the case ?

Same question applies to Time as well, anyone subscribe ? Or after a while is it toooooo US biased ?

I like National Geographic but I doubt anyone will like all the articles in each issue. National Geographic and new Scientist are now the only two magazine subscriptions I have kept going.

It takes months for the first National Geographic issue to arrive once you start subscribing.

I was bought a sub to NG for christmas, I find it a bit preachy and very pro mmgw.

I think I would have prefered a sub to Private Eye.

Having said that I do find most of the articles interesting and I do still read it cover to cover.

I got it through Tesco points, it seems to be quite hit and miss. Beautiful photography is guaranteed, but I find I either love the articles or think they're ste.
