Pathological Liar
Discussion
Ok I need some advice, i have a very good friend who I have known for about 10 years, about 2 years ago he went off to a music college and we didn't see him again until feb this year, he didn't seem any different but a friend of him and me, told me that he told his mum that he had sold a computer programme for £13,000,000, he then told me this same story about 1 week later and everything sounded genuine. but we never saw any proof, nobody did, he fooled everybody even his parents. but he left his bag at my house the other day and i had a look in it and i found two cash machine recipients one for £-750 and £-850, so my theory is he is lying so nobody knows he is in debt, but i don't know how to go about confronting him. he has upset a lot of people and i don't think he know he is doing it.
cheers in advance.

Just man up and tell him you were rifling through his bag one day as you thought he was a lying tosspot, you found these receipts and can he explain why he was overdrawn.
That should do the trick.
ETA: of course, admitting you went looking in his bag will inevitably cause problems itself...

i think the problem with the situation is he is caught up in his own lie, i think he will be defensive even if i have mountains of evidence That should do the trick.

If you give him reason to be defensive then that's the way he will go. Try taking him out by yourself for a drink or three (or four) and get him talking and ask him how everything is. Maybe you'll strike gold and it'll all come out, maybe it won't, but at least you'll have tried.

Unless he owes you money, I'm really not sure WTF it has to do with you.
Apart from his indiscretion, you said he hasn't changed. If you don't want to be mates with him, don't call him anymore.
we actually he does owe me £200, he told me the cash machine had eaten his card, and he was going to transfer some money into my account which he Hasn't Apart from his indiscretion, you said he hasn't changed. If you don't want to be mates with him, don't call him anymore.

I have an acquaintance who is a liar.
I used to get on with him OK, but I just got sick of his lies and never speak to him anymore.
It's difficult to get along with anyone who doesn't tell the truth.
Do you know how if he has any sibings?
hes got two brothers and a sister. he gave his older brother a check for 500k which bounced. it makes us all sound really gullible, but i cant understand why anybody would start a lie this big. I used to get on with him OK, but I just got sick of his lies and never speak to him anymore.
