IIRC They call them barges in Aus'. I think that could be the ex Walkinshaw one that was auctioned off a while ago. As they say, not many about.

The only thing good about the car is that the chassis is the right length to make a ute.

Seems to be a pretty good guy that runs - bought a Grand Cherokee from him a couple of years ago - seemed to have only quality/good condition cars there

Nicely tuneable to get rid of the slushy part though.

Ringram is correct, it will be a 4L60e.
The long wheel base vehicles are very good at the straight line stuff! Not sure why, even though they are heavier, they always used to go good at the drags! That is part of the reason the utes were good!
Depending on when it went over there, it might not have the LS6 manifold on top of the engine. That would be a nice cheap upgrade, find somebody who has put a FAST manifold or similar on their Monaro and work out a deal for their stock one. (take the injectors too) Throw some 3.73 diff gears on it, maybe a 3000rpm stall convertor and go and scare other road users! Of course you might have to invest in some valve springs too. The gearbox might not like it for too long especially with the stall convertor. Those gearboxes are not too hard too get beefed up by someone.
