As above. Have a slight issue with my Clio 172 Cup at the moment, not worth taking it to the usual specialist I use as they are some distance away. Would rather avoid using a Renault dealer as I've never been particularly impressed with them!

Cheers.

They aren't specialists in any particular marque, but the MoT City in Winnersh have always done a good job for me, both at doing MoTs but also routine servicing of beaters. Their labour rates are reasonable and they've always been honest about what needs doing, and what would be nice to have. Whether you'd take your Cup there or wait until a specialist recco comes along is up to you - but it might be worth giving them a shout.

Independant Renault garage, good service, big place, excellent facilities.
My wife used to take her Fiat Punto there because they did a better job than the Fiat dealer, despite it not being a Renault smile

Bzzzt. Theale Motor Works has now closed - after 70-odd years in the centre of Theale, they've shut up shop.

Blimey, that is a real shame!

Hadn't used them for a couple of years since we became an Alfa only family (though again I don't use the main dealers, no idea what the current one is like).

Try these guys:

Thames Valley mot's
33 Loverock Rd, Reading, Berkshire, RG30 1DZ‎ - 0118 959 0500‎

The MOT bloke (Dave) shares the unit with another guy who does the repairs. Very good levels of service and they know their stuff. I've taken all sorts of cars there now and always use them for anything non-dealer.

I've been recommended Shiplake Motors (obviously not in Reading...) in the past.

I ended up taking my car to this place this morning. I hope they know their stuff and are reputable as they have just diagnosed a knackered gearbox bearing which means a whole new box! Ouch.

Just glad I did'nt take it to a dealer as I'd be £80 down already just to find that out, let alone the price of a brand new 'box from Renault eek (as upposed to re-conditioned).

I've never had a problem with them. On several occasions they have even done the odd thing for free as part of an MOT.

Good to hear. I don't feel like I'm being bent over....but you never know thats all. They both seem like decent guys speaking to them today.

IIRC, they have a no swearing at work policy?! You'd like to think that someone who went with something like that is fairly decent? Let us know how you get on.
