The drop-down menus will not work until the entire page has finished loading, including any adverts which can sometimes run slow. This can be bypassed by switching to the "Big Blue" skin via your preferences.

With regard to the getting logged out problem, this seems to be affecting a few people at the moment and we are looking into what is causing it.
