Audi Avant A4 Tdi Help

Does the fault occur when you are slipping the clutch as you have just changerd gear, or once you are fully off the clutch and the engine is driving.
Can you replicate the fault by driving, in a strange manner unlike what you would normally do, e.g in say 3rd gear slow and let the revs drop to around 1200rpm, then give it full throtle, does it then pull smoothly and accelerate, or does the judder occur then too?????

The engine doesn't know what gear its in, so will be the same in any gear, you probably just dont get into the same speed/load range in the higher gears.
There are some common faults on TDI's that cause a loss of fuel pressure, that intern causes a misfire at higher rpm on full load. Say over 3500rpm on full throttle.
But if yours is playing up lower down than that I would suggest its not that and more likely an electrical issue, Air Mass sensor or EGR problem perhaps.
One other thing it could be, if there is sound like escaping gas, and you get a lot of smoke from exhaust when you accelerate, then you have a boost leak.
You need to get the fault codes checked first and go from there really. Get it to your local audi centre, if you are concerned with cost, just tell them, look I only want then fault memory checked first and they will charge you about 0.3hrs labour, say £30+vat.

Many thanks for that .... the car still has two months audi warranty left on it but i feel a bit bad as i have just had a new air con compressor fitted which cost near the 650 mark (thankfully covered by the warranty) i will book it in as i,m sure my warranty would cover it hopefully?
also my mate said he could hear a noise like summatt had stuck in my tyres on driver side when i pulled into work altho that was not the case and sometimes in low gear but only when the throttle is pressed a sound of leaking air can be heard yet again intermittently for a few seconds

Sorry - but why would you feel bad? What's the point of a warranty?also my mate said he could hear a noise like summatt had stuck in my tyres on driver side when i pulled into work altho that was not the case and sometimes in low gear but only when the throttle is pressed a sound of leaking air can be heard yet again intermittently for a few seconds
