Hey all,

I'm just about to buy a R/Rover 4.4 Vogue but wanna know how/how much the 3rd row of seats are for these beasts?

I've seen some on the overfinch site in the US but by time of shipping etc.. the price gets very silly - could buy a 97 reg discovery for less!! laugh

Many thanks in advance for any advice received.

If you really want 7 seats I'd have to suggest getting a Disco 3 instead (now plenty of them available for less money than early L322s); I've not sat in the boot of a RR but I can't see seats flat on the floor being very great - ie. no footwells, and rearfacing too (certainly the ones I've seen). The Disco 3rd row is actually quite comfortable even for adults, for a while!

It's not quite as refined or spectacular to sit in as a RR but it's still very comfortable and a great long distance car.

Just my 2p!

If you really want to sit your kids in the crumple zone of your car... go for it!

Personally, I would only ever sit seven people in a vehicle designed and crash tested as a seven-seater (or more of course)

Quite simply an idiotic statement rolleyes, firstly nobody mentioned putting children in there!
I was interested in the extra seats for running the lads to and from the pub when we go out as I don't drink - as for the crumple zones...again, I suggest you have a look at the structural integrity of both vehicles which is almost identical, plus the Range is a little higher and longer so should be even safer than the Discovery!

However 'ruaricoles' thank you for your input and it was considered, however with the Range being more luxurious I can't see myself giving up one of the finest vehicle interiors in the world so that two mates don't have to get cabs home! lol laugh

Suggest you need to check out insurance as well. Car wont be insured to carry so many passengers.

Actually, you are completely and utterly wrong there... The Range Rover and Discovery do not even share the same construction method - RR is monocoque and Discovery is 'body on frame' (or Integrated Body Frame for D3 and D4): There is a very good reason that Land Rover have never made a 7-seat RR, whereas the Discovery chassis has its 6th and 7th seats well within the protected cabin structure (no rear crumple zone on Discovery 1 & 2).

Before you start calling people idiots on here, it might pay you to consider that you don't know who you are talking to... It's just possible that I may know more about RR and Discovery than you are ever likely to know (or care about)... wink

Remind me never to offer you any help in future though, if that's the way you react to advice that doesn't suit your mates (who you obviously care a great deal about - being much more expendable than your kids, obviously)...

Sorry, I don't get this...

You're happy to spend several hundred quid of your own cash to fit rear seats in a RR so that your mates don't have to get taxis, yet these 'mates' mean so much to you that you don't care if they lose their legs if someone runs into the back of you at a roundabout? (Probably work out cheaper to pay their taxi fares wink )

I don't drink either, as it happens, so I bought a 911 so that I DIDN'T get tapped for lifts all the time from drunken mates... Guess one of us must have to work harder to keep their mates than the other wink

When someone asks for advice about costs of seven seats etc..., why does someone feel it necessary to give advice about crumple zones and where you should seat your children. !!! Do people not realise that everyone can make their own decisions on such issues.

Anyway, I'd like to know about the seven seat set up as an occasional option if anyone does have information that's relevant. Cheers !

What information do you deem relevant? Can I comment on carpet cutting or electrics splicing or seat sourcing or supplier capability or residuals impacts....?

Time to simply just get out more KVA! laugh

I have a 4.0L Tuscan and am buying the range for a more practicle option - Plus have you ever thought that maybe you brought the 911 because no one WANTS to drive with you & you're free flowing self opinionated personality?!!! So I guess you thought.....why have empty seats?!!! roflrofl

This was a genuine thread asking a genuine question, not an invite for people to prove why so many porsche drivers are considered 'tw@ts' rofl with their over enthusiastic opinions.....if you wanna express your anger at the world, then do it somewhere else where people may care what you wish to ranting about!

Thank you and safe driving wink

Errr... don't think it's me with the anger problem - your understanding of the wink smiley seems to be about as good as your spelling wink

Interesting that the car I 'used' to drive has branded my personality, in your opinion: Especially as I no longer have the Porsche and now have, guess what.... A Range Rover rofl

Can't be bothered to post on this thread any more (so you can have the last word if you like), but may I just remind you of these words in your original post...

I gave you some advice and I don't recall you saying thank you, so maybe you should be a little more specific next time...

Maybe "any advice that doesn't conflict with my own opinions" would be more appropriate? wink
