Wedge/SEAC V Skyline
Discussion
Now i'm not much of a Jap car fan, so knowledge is limited, but whilst out for a quick blast in my 450SEAC i came up behind a Skyline... which i think was an R33.
Anyway, i floored my car and went past but he stayed nailed to my 'fancy wing'
I know these things can be tuned to extraordinary levels so the performance didn't really surprise me, but what did was the sound! I have a sport JP exhaust on my Wedge but this Skyline drowned it out!
I followed behind going into Hatfield tunnel whereby he proceeded to make noises like a cannon going off...bang bang bang on the overrun. Anti-lag? It was like he was switching off the ignition and banging the fuel off in the exhaust.
The tailpipe was big, so i'm assuming he had a drainpipe for an exhaust. I'm curious as to how a 2.6L straight six + turbo makes so much more noise over a 4.5L V8?
Must have been a straight through system!

No need for a silencer with a turbo .. as they work best with zero back pressure.
It's actually lean unburnt fuel that creates pops and crackles.. typically produced when you back off the throttle.. fuel in small quanties in still fed into the engine to give better driving charistics.
