Yikes!

Fair play to the guy though - using it and loving it! Maybe not loving the crash so much though. Stunning car yes

It might be an $8m car but it will probably be no more to fix if he'd been in a current Scuderia. I presume he will be insured and, as Tony says, hat's off to the guy for using it as Enzo intended smile

Great shots! Won't cost a lot (in percentage terms) to fix and the value of what appears to be a previously restored car should be unaffected. 10/10 for effort!

Yeah, not ideal but not a write off, thankfully.

Doesn't look too bad actually. Can't wait to see the corkscrew close up myself - 3 weeks to go now!

That's nothing, tiny knock and as they have all been totally rebuilt several times over the years it's not an issue for value in the future, just good to see it out being used!

Out of interest what would write off a car of that supposed value? I mean surely Ferrari would build pretty much every panel and a new engine/chassis for $8m, so an insurance company would never actually have to pay out the value, as a total loss would certainly never happen?

I imagine a write-off would only happen if chassis/engine were destroyed by fire.

Not even then, there are several cars that have been revived that have been totaly destroyed by fire (or cut up by its owners in the case of Charles Brockett), for example 2735gt has been rebodied on a number of occasions and has now been restored by the factory's Classiche dept smile

The Tr in question was apparently wearing its second or third body at the time of the crash and will no doubt be on the road with replacement panels in a few months

Edited by AndrewW-G to change example as people were upset at the use of another example that may be a tad more contentious

Fair point. I really meant destroyed completely and not possible to restore. But I suppose with an $8m insured value, anything's possible?

Not even then, there are several cars that have been revived that have been totaly destroyed by fire (or cut up by its owners in the case of Charles Brockett), for example the 330p3/4 (0846) was burnt out at Lemans, stripped for parts by the factory then sent to the local scrap yard, the remains have now been restored smile

So in some respects there is a very fine line between a restoration and a replica, possibly just a small plate with chassis number stamped on it.

I should be very careful of posting 'facts' as above if I were you, the owner of 0846 has gone to considerable length (& expense) to ascertain what, PRECISELY & HONESTLY, is the position of his car; not helped IMO by somewhat random posting.
Best wishes, Al.

I still don't think there is any need to discuss individual's personal car details on here when that car was not the subject of the post (even if details are available if you go hunting). I would certainly be peed off if it was my car.

Might be an idea purely for harmony to edit the post? Just a thought smile

As I'm not challenging the owners published history of this car, do you realy feel that the owner would be upset by me using it as an example of a Ferrari rebuilt to perfection following an accident? it's not as though I'm posting details of the other opinions on this car, for example Doug Nyes (which for the record I do not agree with) wink

Have edited out all the bits relating to any unauthorised abreviated history to keep everybody happy smile
