I'm looking to visit Mallorca for a few days over the New Year with my partner, sister and brother in law.
I'm thinking an apartment or villa will work out cheaper than a decent hotel but am after reccomendations as to which area.
I know the temperature won't be muich warmer than the UK so thinking of basing ourselves in Palma city as oposed to a beach resort where many restaurants may be closed....any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks

Palma's quite nice and interesting, but it's also lovely in the mountains up the north west coast - Deia, Valdemossa and Puerto de Soller. I've spent New Year in that area before and it was lovely. There's still plenty to do especially if you have a car - lots of lovely places to visit further up the coast - Sa Calobra, Lluc monastery etc. I've been going to Mallorca for about 20 years since my mum bought a small apartment there, it's such a beautiful island.

Not going to recommend an area, but if you can, try to be there on 12th night, which i think is the 12th night following, or after xmas day? around 5th/6th Jan.

Im not religeous, but they are, very, and so there are huge processions of saints/firework displays and giving of presents, Palma becomes very busy, and is well worth a look
