The South Coast with its seas of traffic and ludicrous overcrowding is seriously getting on my tits. Escaping the A27/A259 is a must.

Anybody know of, or live in a gentle part of UK with empty roads and some tranquility? Must be within easy striking distance of Snett/Silverstone/Donny.

Greatly appreciate any advice.

well Doni differcult but some of roads ok. better than alot i could mention..

if you want real driving pleasure you cant beat Wales... not close to your circuits but the welshpool to coast road is one of the best in the country and police are few and far between. Shamre you did not drop down that way on the way back from Oulton Park......you would not have regretted it .

stay clear of Macclesfield / Buxton / Matlock unless you want to be chased by a helicopter or plane....

Snet i havent been to for years so not sure nowadays

Around Banbury in Oxon has some lovly roads leading to Coventry, Stratford Oxford and Daventry, all those roads are great.... I used to love the A423 from Southam to Banbury major Twisties some sweepers and a few nice striaghts where I'm told you get to above 170 Leptons no problem.... 14 miles in 10 mins no probs.... So I'm told....

But to be honest that was only in the early mornings and late afternoons... As even there the roads got worse over the 11 years I lived and worked there....

But now I can cruise to work at 200 Leptons no problem no matter what time it is....... But then again Canada is like that, lots of straights but only twisty when going up the mountains.....

I must go and investigate around this area in the autumn.

One of lifes many mysteries to me is why so many people want to live down south..confusedsilly

me too.... 20 years in sussex and then 5 in wales was an eye opener..

the fact i drove 26 miles to work each morning and it took me 30 mins and i saw???? 5-10 cars at 7.30 in the morning was the shock, wereas in sussex, 3 miles = 20mins and a traffic jam....

Im in cheshire now and not as bad as sussex but even still i can still plan a journey within reason..

miss the money though
