Chassis, Chassis and Chassis

Tap it with a panel pin hammer everywhere it should ring rather than go thud.

A tank is £250 and you need to remove the rear window to do easily or remove your front seats or just risk making your interior filthy and smelly

Pay careful atention to front irons where bonnet mounts, all outer rails under the sills. if possible pay to have it lifted up on a car ramp to properly inspect. if owner doesn't want you to look that closely then walk away.

values. £0 - £1200 for a snotter needing a chassis
£1200 - £2500 for something without or very short MOT
£2500 - £4000 for something presentable with a long life left in it
£4000 - £8000 for a well restored car as ever more for the very best concours

as ever. in my view Buy the worst or the best or a good one in the middle with a ringing chassis.

Neil.

Glass rear screens cost quite alot so people replace them with perspex also save weight too

Guess it depends what people want to use the cars for,i have a glass rear screen that i will replace with perspex or similar to save weight.

Sounds like you need someone to check the car out for you

To me, glass or perspex makes no difference.

Perspex does age quicker though and often needs replacing after about 5 years.

Glass is original but heavy and breaks then it is about £600 to replace.

perspex is cheap, light and cheap to replace.

The last 2 vixens I have had I sold the glass screens.

£2700 should be a car with a medium MOT and a good chassis capable of being used daily without the need for any immediate repairs.

That said its a Tax fre early M and values for these are rising because they are quite rare.
