Hi, got an old 90 and some of the side panels and rear door are a bit bubbly. Some of these I understand are alloy.

What priming is required and how do you prep'?

Without wishing to be rude, normal Land Rover rover paint of that vintage is hand painted enamel. Go to an agricultural machine specialist. To get a decent finish (modern car) you'll need to get back to bare metal and use a decnt etch primer on the metal followed by whatever primer is appropriate for the chosen top coat
