Right the OH has more than hinted she wants to go on a picnic this BH weekend hippy

But I dont have a bloody clue where to go. So if anyone has an idea I'm all ears

Preferably pretty remote (i.e no chav scum), nice scenery around the East midlands spanning over to the east coast.

So come on boys and girls give me some ideas here....

smile

Get up a bit earlier, head along the A47 and into Norwich then up the A1151 to Wroxham. Park car. Hire day boat and potter off down the river and onto one of the broads for your picnic.

She gets her picnic somewhere lovely and you get to play boats.

ooooo that sounds interesting.

Forgive my ignorance but can you just moore up anywhere you feel and hop out for a potter about an picnic then?

ETA: how much is it roughly to hire a boat? is it possible to get a rowing boat... always fancied going out on a rowing boat smile not sure why lol

There maybe some dogging taking place if I make the right picnic! rofl

(hence the remote area requirement tongue out )

There will be places you can take a picnic. Bonus is there's a tearoom as well. The properties are ALL located somewhere pleasant.

Absolutely no chav scum.

peak district around the castleton area is good on a sunny day. great views, lots of routes to walk, and some great pubs. plus you'd be able to take her up the devil's ahole!

Loads of nice places for picnics around my way, but all suffer the same problem... people's dogs rushing over to investigate! I think a great idea is to surprise the OH on a cold rainy day by setting out a picnic in front of the fire at home! Mine loved it, plus, being indoors we got to take the experience to places where a picnic can't normally go hehe

Yep, pretty much anywhere that isn't a bit of riverbank that is the end of someones garden.

Try here for boat hire/prices:

http://www.barnesbrinkcraft.co.uk/shortbreaks.html

The picnic boats are what you need. It's the one on the webpage under the pic of the kingfisher. This boatyard does the nicest boats and charge at the higher end. Google 'wroxham day boat hire' for other choices. I'd avoid a rowing boat - you'll be dead before you have rowed out of the village! smile

There are lots of lovely nature reserves with staithes to moor up at and wander along until you find a nice picnic spot. There are also plenty of pubs to moor up right outside and nip in for a drink. There are no drink-drive laws for boats under seven metres in length either, but if you get p!ssed, you may drown! wink

no idea sorry. try looking for something she'd like to do [antuiqes market, craft fair etc] then look for somewhere to picnic nearby. given the location, if i were you i'd go to the broads as already suggested. boats easily beat walking.
