Those Companies On TV That Offer To Buy Mobiles Phone

I have a pretty standard camera phone SonyEricsson K800i. Those sites offer about £25, compared to eBay where a good condition, fully boxed with instructions item sells for about £30-ish.

What do these companies do with all the mobiles they buy?

How do they make their money?

The mobile phones are generally recycled for third world countries etc

Id take their original quote with a pinch of salt.

Last week I sent them a k850i based on them paying £37. I got an email yesterday saying that the back was damaged, and they were only giving me £17. There was nothing at all wrong with the back when I sent it.....

Just cashed in my old blackberry using moneysavingexpert.com's thing. Got £48. That was with cash4mobile. I have used Mazuma before and not had a problem either.

Sent off my old k800i, it was beaten up after suffering loads of abuse and had no numbers left on the buttons and would sometimes not charge properly. Still got the full amount with no problem at all.

They don't seem to like walkman phones though. I got a bid of £6 or something silly like that for my old W880i. They weren't any more interested in my D600 either.

Sent in a N95 with a bit of damage to the battery cover. Got £100 in the post. It was the one with the stupid advert with the mobile phone walking about.

sent my n95 to mazuma...got a cheque for £95 in the mail 3 days later.
Can't fault it really- about £10 less than ebay values, but withut the fees and hassle of nigerian scammers buying them.

They offered me £27 for my PDA, they go for £200 on ebay.
