Dating an older woman - experiences
Discussion
No idea why I'm posting this, as it will no doubt open up a world of hurt for me, but here goes:
Have started dating a very nice woman - professional (quite senior in an investment bank, same industry as me, just a bit further down the career path), well travelled (just got back from some travelling on sabatical), solvent - own house, no cats, no kids.
We get on really well - plenty of laughs, intelligent conversation etc, and she's very attractive - long legs, slim, pretty, everyting I like.
Now, my question:
I'm 32, she's about 38-40 (not been able to ascertain exactly how old, but I know she was running a middle office team when I was leaving college.....)
Has anyone done anything similar, and how did it turn out? She doesn't seem fussed about marriage or kids (neither am I) if that helps?

Go for it, the age gap is hardly significant enough to worry about! Are your insecurities around the fact that she's more wise to the world / aheadh of you in career terms? Really shouldn't matter - if it botheres her she's not worth it, if it doesn't bother her then it shouldn't bother you either!
Many years ago, an affair with my boss 13 years my senior went spectacularly tits-up at the end... I lost my job and she was within the width of a ball-hair of losing the husband and kids.
If she has any input into your work and/or is attached, steer clear.
If she has no input into your work and is single then you should smash that ass to bits.
ETA - 8 years does not constitute an "older woman" in your 30s. It would be a bit icky if you were conducting this when she was 20, but I think at 40 she and you are on safe ground.

My wife is older than me, although when we first met I thought she was around the same age. We've been together for seven years now with no problems. I am 37 and she is 45 and we're fine, think alike etc.
One advantage I found (and still find even now) when first dating after a previous long relationship was that the girls my age or slightly younger had so many insecurities and hang up's whereas my then older girlfriend was more confident and self assured.

Well done!
In my experience older women are theperverts thinking mans kind of bird:
They are wise, experienced, skilled and don't seem to have the same irritating hang ups that younger fillies seem racked with.
However, be very aware when they say this:

Although a woman says this, and is being 100% truthful... when that 'clock' starts striking the midnight hour (around 39 - 40ish) she will go off the rails on the topic of babies if she hasn't already had one... hopefully she will have a career that she stifle these chimes under.Dated a 43yo old when I was 30 – again, no kids, solvent, own place etc – legal secretary and yoga teacher. Was fun for a year or so but never saw any long term future in it as I figured that her looks were going to disappear quite rapidly in the next few years. I’m now dating someone 6 years younger than me. Completely shallow I know but when it comes to relationships I really believe that you have to be honest to yourself first & foremost, otherwise the relationship is just built on a lie, which is just a daft way to go about things.
