Air con or not

I know that not all Mk1's were fitted with air con. Did they all come with the button and blue LED for aircon? Mine has the button and the light, but no detectable air, I can't see anything under the bonnet, does anyone have a photo of the air con pump/condenser, so I can compare?

Phil they all came with the blue led etc the aircon compressor is situated at the top front of the engine level with the cam cover

True, true. But I live in Scotland, therefore rain is a very real possibility and it gets a bit stuffy with everything buttoned up.

It can be retrofitted i think - you have the wiring already. IIRC TVR Power were putting together a retrofit kit for this, give them a bell and see what they say?

A/C is useful for the times when you cant get the roof off because of

a) a moaning mrs who doesnt like the wind in her hair or
b) rain and stuffiness!

Did not know that - is it alot of $$$???

This is the first 'summer' I have missed a/c - its good in humidity (and on the wet track day!)

The purist in me says no (heavy, cost bhp) but I would take it if I was offered it!

It was around £3k as an option, and from posts I've read here it costs about the same to retro-fit.

Nice to have, sometimes, and good for re-sale value. But, it does leach power (not that you'll be short of that) and can compromise the cooling system (stationary on a very hot day you may have to turn it off).

In the last year of factory production the aircon option was £1500+ VAT. I did hear of it being available as a factory retrofit for about £2K.

I was quiet surprised with on my Tuscan S it is realy quiet good.
