Mummy's boys... most men?
Discussion
Seeing as this is a mostly male-populated forum...
Are the parents, especially mothers, of men generally much more clingy than those of women?
My parents have always encouraged me to be independent, none of this 'family obligation' stuff, they want me to be my own person (or they hate me & that's just an excuse to see me less often
)
The same seems to go for my female friends.
Yet again tonight however, OH has jumped to the clicking of mummy's fingers, spoiling the first evening of our long bank holiday weekend. This is something other female friends have moaned about in relation to their partners & respective mothers.
Whenever I see his mum, she coos over "her babies" (him & his brother)
and it is clear she is struggling to let go, despite them being in their 30s.
I have never played the 'evil-son-stealing-girlfriend', in fact she & I get on very well, but I just do not understand her attitude. OH's dad is much the same, insisting he go round at frequent intervals, pestering him with phone calls & reminders etc. While it's nice they are close & they care, I still find it disturbing.
So, do any guys on here have similar issues? Do you secretly enjoy being cosseted by your mum, I know OH does although he won't admit it!
It's driving me mad but I have to step back as I believe I should never make OH feel divided between me & his family. Or should I just kick him up the arse & tell him his folks need to get a life now their "babies" are all grown up?!

The answer is that it's not a choice. You can't have 100% of him and neither can his parents. You're all part of the same family, so, as my ex-bird tried to teach me (yet failed to observe) 'learn to share'
Blood is also thicker than water, so if you force him to choose, don't be surprised if you're suddenly single.

Oh, I know, that's what I was trying (clumsily!) to say. I would never want him to feel there has to be a 'choice'. There doesn't, both his family & I play a part in his life. Just drives me mad is all, and I was interested to hear if other men had similar experiences or perhaps even felt stifled by it
I'm not close with my parents, but i work with a bloke who seems to have never cut the apron strings.
He's permanently going round there for dinner and on holiday with them, i don't know how his mrs puts up with it. I'd tell him to man-up, that applies to your nancy-boy OH too.
If you need to see how a real man deals with the world, drop me a PM with a picture

Has he ever asked you to provide breast milk when his mother isn't around? Are the parents, especially mothers, of men generally much more clingy than those of women?

mummys boys (the krays) and daddys girls (tara palmer beckwithson and paris hilton)
had a girlfriend of 7 years who would jump to the beck'n call of her pa, and my ex-wife said she hated mommys boys yet spent 7 times a day on the phone to her mother, the once she rang my mother, convinced i was indeed a mummys boy
wifey "where is my husband"
mother "how the fxxxsticks would i know. where did you leave him".
wifey (to moi) "where are you"
moi "banging your sister".
so better hes round his mommys house eating alphabetti on hovis than shagging something younger, firmer and less nagging!

Bitty?
Take the point about different families acting in different ways, but I just see it more with men & their families, especially their mums.
But, as this is PH, you're right, he is a f
king nancy so I guess I should bash his back doors in & show him who's boss? If he squeals "mummy" half way through then he's dumped. Thanks all FastLaneGirl said:

I think more and more men are becoming mummies boys…I can think of at 3, all over the age of 30 who will go running as soon as mummy says so.
I managed to get a good compromise with the ex (who was still so attached I’m not convinced they cut the cord when he was born), that was when mum said to pop round, that he did go running there and then but maybe leave it till the following day.
He didn’t man up even when told to do so…hence now an ex
