New ECU - Why so long?

Can anybody explain why is has taken over 2 months (so far) for TVR in Blackpool to find me a new ECU? Old one was backloaded due to water ingress in footwell because of the poor door seals. It was sent away at the end of Oct by TVR Sports Car in Hagen Germany.
Despite living and working in Germany I still find it hard to believe it takes so long to find one piece of equipment.

Is this length of time the norm? If you've experienced the same sort of problem let me know.

Assuming the ECU is the same as fitted to new Cerbera's, there is no reason it should take so long (they HAVE to have new ECU's sitting on a shelf ?) ! I would think the ECU for the Red Rose is a bit different as it has the 2 fuel maps.

I hope you've been able to borrow an ECU from another car, so you've still been able to drive yours ?

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately my dealer was only able to swap an ECU from another 4.2 to confirm his original thoughts, hence I have been without the car for over 2 months now. Very frustrating when I use the car on a daily basis to go to work (4 miles each way). Mind you I've spent quite a few weeks on exercises/operations (Iraq) this year, so maybe it's been a blessing in disguise (not too may breakdowns).

I'm optimistic that I'll have the vehicle on the road by mid Jan (better late than never).

Had a new Engine Mgmt ECU fitted by Racing Green about 2 months ago and at the time there was no trouble in getting hold of them. Maybe give Martin at RG a buzz.

(Expensive though!!!! LOL)

unless u particualrly want the tvr ecu you can go aftermarket .. give me a call, i hav news u might be interested in ..
